COOKESVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech defeated the Bellarmine University baseball team 8-1 on Sunday at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex to clinch the season-opening series with the Knights.
Bellarmine (1-2) won the opener 11-3, but the Knights’ offense stalled after that as BU scored just one point in each of its final two games against Tennessee Tech (2-1). .
Bellarmine also faced significant deficits early in the second half. On Sunday, Tennessee Tech scored five runs in the first inning, scoring all five, including a three-run home run, after the first two batters struck out. The Golden Eagles added three more runs in the fifth inning.
