Following a quiet soft launch in mid-February, Dream Xi’an is now fully operational in a bright, modern space in Tower Hill, offering her signature Shaanxi cuisine and a host of new options. I am.
Highbury’s Xi’an Impressions and the recently launched Bloomsbury’s Master’s Way introduced many Londoners to the local cuisine of Shaanxi, particularly the hand-rolled noodle dishes for which northwestern China is famous.
While these restaurants were limited to small kitchens, Dream Xi’an is a much larger space with a 70-cover dining room and a large kitchen, allowing Guirong to offer a significantly expanded menu. Now it looks like this.
Among the new dishes on offer is a selection of elaborate steamed dim sum, all made in-house. Choose from Empress Xian dumplings with chicken, shrimp, and carrots. Xi’an special steamed dumplings with pork, cabbage, and green onions. Vegetarian special with wood ear mushroom, vermicelli and egg. Wei’s xiaolongbao contains pork, preserved vegetables, and soup.
The new Dream Xi’an exclusive menu also features several traditional Xi’an street food dishes, including special fried bao and thick dumplings filled with beef and onions. Paomo soup is a hot stew in which chopped bread is cooked with sliced beef and served in a rich beef broth.
For fans of Master Wei, cucumber with sesame chili oil is well known. Cold beef tendon with spicy sauce. The cumin beef and pulled pork “burger” is served on homemade fermented flatbread.
“In our previous restaurants, we had the opportunity to bring the cuisine of our hometown to London, and we are very fortunate to be able to offer even more special dishes at Dream Xi’an,” says Wei. “I hope people like it as much as I do. It means a lot to me.”
