Mark Robins looks back on his time in charge of Coventry City as he enters his seventh year in charge.
The City manager marked the anniversary as City bounced back from defeat to West Bromwich Albion with a 5-0 win over Rotherham United.
He also hit .750 against the Baggies.th He reflected on the Robins’ game in management.
This all comes ahead of this weekend’s game against Watford at Vicarage Road, which the Robins previewed, with the team looking to build on Tuesday’s win over Rotherham.
7 years on my second stint at Coventry City…
“It feels like a long time. A lot has happened between then and now. It’s almost uptime.
From the time I walked through the door to now, the atmosphere and everything has changed beyond recognition in fairness.
There were some tough times, but there were also some really good times. This is supported by everyone’s support. I would like to thank the staff, the players, the owners, the supporters, that was the secret to that period and everyone who played their part. ”
Reached management of over 750 games…
“I found out the other day that I have managed over 750 games, which is a long period of time, over 17 years at different clubs. You have to approach it with the idea of “being there for a long time to put things in place.”
Even if it doesn’t last that long, I hope I can leave something behind that will make a positive difference to each club and leave them in a better position than when I found them.
It’s not something you can get all the time, all the time. You have to get results along the way, but if I can set things in place to make things better in the future for everyone, that’s the only way I’ll do it.
I have experience in club management and moving between stadiums multiple times with different clubs. So there are different feels and different ways to go about things, and the experience you glean from each role should improve you in the long run. That’s right. ”
We have a match against Watford coming up this weekend…
“Watford were a team that went down a few years ago and were expected to bounce back at the first try, but that didn’t happen and things change over time and people move on.
They’re bringing in top-level players and the quality is high all over the pitch and everywhere you look.
They have some injuries just like the other players, but not too many, but they are expected to definitely finish at the top with more points, but thankfully that’s not my job. do not have.
It’s always a difficult challenge to go to Watford and I’m hoping that will be the case again tomorrow, but we know it’s a difficult place to go to.
Ellis Sims and his recent appearance…
“Ellis is very calm and has a calm demeanor. He has his feet on the floor so hard you can’t believe he’s got another hat trick.
He will focus on the upcoming games, but for me he is normal and that is important for a striker. Because you can tell by the way he carries himself that he’s confident and his confidence is growing.
He’s coming out of himself. He was quiet, but he’s starting to show more of himself and I think everyone, not just Ellis, would like to see that in him.
He expects to score goals, he thinks it’s his job, and when he does, he just thinks about it that way. He’s enjoying it more than he’s showing, but while it’s great to see him growing, he’s not a finished product yet and still has a long way to go. ”
Ben Thief’s fitness update…
“He’s been training this week, so he’ll be able to play some role tomorrow. We said he’d be six to eight weeks old, and we’re about six weeks old, So he’s on the front lines of that, but he’s working very hard to get in shape so there’s always the expectation that he’ll be back as soon as possible.
“Right now I have to make sure he’s okay and I have to be careful with him too, but at the end of the day I think he’ll be fine tomorrow too. We have to get through training and , we need to add that and then we’ll see for sure, but it’s really positive.”
