RTÉ One viewers loved ‘Pure Gentleman’ Roddy Collins’ witty and funny interview on tonight’s Tommy Tiernan Show and flocked to social media to find out how to hear him talk all night long. Ta.
Throughout the wide-ranging interview, the legendary former professional football player and manager entertained Tommy with witty stories while speaking about his love for his wife and his life and career.
The topic then turned to Roddy’s younger brother Steve Collins, a former professional boxer who competed from 1986 to 1997 and is a Celtic Warrior. Roddy asked the host about his important role in the boxing champion’s brother’s inner circle. Told.

“Well, he wasn’t directly involved in boxing. He did his own thing,” Roddy explained. “It would be around the gym. I saw him around training camp and we sparred a few rounds together.
“Basically, I have all the say in people supporting him. I arrange flights, hotels, buses, and games and tickets to make sure everyone has a good time. I did. That’s what I did.
“I’m not a boxer, I’m a world champion belt holder, and I was in the ring holding the belt. Right?”
The former professional football player and manager stood up and demonstrated how to carry the belt by raising his arms above his head.
“When you get off, your entourage comes in,” he continued.
“There’s 20,000-odd people on the screen. I’ve got the belt, I’m full of adrenaline, I’m going to kill everybody. And I walk by his opponent and say, ‘Your I got it, buddy.’ And I walked around and came up to his trainer and said, ‘You got it too!’”
Fans praised the witty and funny interview and flooded social media to heap praise on the “pure gentleman”.
