The Metropolitan Police Department has dispatched officers to the Caribbean to interview the suspect as they continue to search for Muriel McKay’s body.
Mr McKay, 55, was kidnapped in 1969 by brothers Nizamodon and Arthur Hossain and held for a £1 million ransom.
She was the wife of Aric, an Australian newspaper executive who represented Rupert Murdoch.
The brothers intended to kidnap Murdoch’s ex-wife Anna, but they picked the wrong person. Mr. McKay disappeared and was never found.
The landowner where Ms McKay was killed initially refused to pay £40,000, but allowed police to search for her body.
The Metropolitan District now wants to speak to her killer, Nizamoudeen, who has already contacted her family and told them where she is buried.
Nizamoudeen had previously expressed a desire to “clear his conscience” before his death.

Detective Superintendent Catherine Goodwin told the family: “We hope that following this visit we will soon be in a position to seek a clear agreement with the landowner.” [if we have sufficient detail] Alternatively, you can apply to the Home Office.
“In the meantime, we are coordinating with forensic and search teams to ensure they are ready.”

Mr McKay’s late landowner, Ian de Burgh, had previously refused to give up access to the property, but last year agreed to allow the Metropolitan Police to dig up part of the farm.
Nothing was found during the search, but the family believes police searched the wrong area. He did it again as the Metropolitan Police continued their search.
Ms McKay’s family previously offered her killer, Nizamouddin Hossain, £40,000 to reveal details of her 1969 kidnapping and murder.
Hossein, who was later released, revealed the location of the body without receiving any money.

Hossein and his brother Arthur were sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and murdering McKay, then 55.
Mr Hossein, who now lives in poverty in Trinidad, has offered to return to the UK to reveal the exact location where he is buried, but this requires Home Office approval after he was deported in 1990. It becomes necessary.
