Roy Keane praised Jurgen Klopp after his interview after Liverpool’s Premier League defeat to Arsenal.
The Reds lost 3-1 in north London, leaving them just two points behind leaders the Gunners.
Liverpool’s defensive disarray, blamed on Virgil van Dijk, allowed Gabriel Martinelli to score the opening goal, giving Arsenal a decisive victory.
It was a missed opportunity for the visiting team to extend their lead to eight points, a far cry from Wednesday’s commanding victory over Chelsea.
In his post-match press conference, Klopp admitted that Arsenal deserved the win and that his team lacked the finishing needed to secure a result.
And Keane was more than happy with what he heard as Liverpool look to respond to their title hopes slipping away.
Arsenal vs Liverpool details
“The interview was very good. I think he’s a very honest Klopp,” the Manchester United legend said on Sky Sports.
“I think he was calm there. He obviously has a lot of experience and knows there are going to be ups and downs throughout the season. At Liverpool he was in good form for most of the season, so I think he has the right balance. I thought it was his work.” That’s exactly what I thought.
“I always enjoyed his stuff after games. I don’t think you get anything from him, but it was fun. It’s so simple and so…
“Do you see the quality and experience of the coach? “Everyone, calm down, we will recover.””
Bukayo Saka’s goal put Arsenal in the lead, but Liverpool equalized just before half-time with a disastrous own goal from Gabriel.
Martinelli then capitalized on mistakes by Van Dijk and Alisson, allowing Leandro Trossard to score in the closing stages to seal victory for the Gunners.
Liverpool’s last league defeat was at Tottenham in September, and they have won 10 times since then.
Sunday’s result will be a bitter pill to swallow, but they remain top of the league and firmly in contention for this season’s title.
