Fans of ITV Good Morning Britain have slammed Richard Madeley for his “unsympathetic” comments about a mother who lost her daughter. Richard returned to ITV with Susanna Reid on Wednesday, January 31, but came under fire from angry viewers.
Guest Erin bravely opened up about the tragic death of her daughter Morgan Ribeiro. Morgan, 20, died after weight loss surgery in Turkey in January, and on Wednesday’s show, Erin asked Richard if he was OK and she broke down in tears.
“Well, you wanted us to play, so we did.” One fan on Twitter/X raged on social media at Richard’s treatment of his bereaved mother, writing, “Richard. “Madeley should stay away from interviews that require any kind of empathy or sympathy!”

“Christ Richard was empathetic, saying, ‘Are you okay?’, ‘No, no,’ and ‘Okay, you wanted me to show you the video!'” a second groan went up. . Another woman said on the social media platform: “‘All you wanted was to show it’…move on. Lovely Richard…so sympathetic.”
Another added: “The woman’s daughter recently passed away. Richard’s first question was…’Are you okay?!?'” Oh my god! lol! ” a fellow fan typed. “Then he said, ‘We showed you because you wanted us to show you.’ … I didn’t like the way he said that at all!”
“Jesus Madeley!…’You wanted this so stop it!!'” another person wrote. Regarding Morgan’s death, Erin said: “I know she had sepsis for days and it went undetected. That’s why she took her life. Sepsis poisoning. ” he said.
Her partner James Brewster, 19, who accompanied her on the trip, said Morgan thoroughly researched her options before booking the £2,500 tour. Ms Morgan, from south London, was stabbed on January 5 after she had flown out the previous day.
“I don’t want this to happen to my other daughter,” Erin, 44, told The Independent.
