In his own words, Nick shares his motivations for joining the awards, the importance of reward and recognition, and the important role people play in the business ecosystem.
How did you become a judge for the People in Retail Awards?
I believe that you can’t run a great business without great people. The People in Retail Awards are also strong advocates for recognizing the industry’s best talent who strive to advance and evolve the retail industry. It is an honor to be a part of the judging panel and play a small part in their journey. The positive impact my great retail colleagues have had on my career has been tremendous, so it’s incredibly rewarding to be a part of celebrating these amazing people.
What role do rewards and recognition play in the retail industry and why do you think they are important?
they are important. People who are recognized feel more valued and valued, and are more likely to perform at a higher level. I think this is extremely beneficial for personal growth and workplace satisfaction.
The People in Retail Awards provide another level of recognition that motivates businesses and inspires them to be standard bearers in their fields of expertise. If we do this, we hope to inspire other companies to evolve and strive for excellence.
Can you share an experience from your career that illustrates the importance of recognizing excellence in your industry?
IKEA always made me feel noticed by recognizing my desire to learn, my skills, and my performance at work. That’s exactly what I look for in an employer. I strongly believe that by valuing the individual, people can move forward from themselves. – Belief perspective and career advancement. I certainly feel that my colleagues at IKEA have always given me a platform to grow and celebrate the work we have achieved. A particularly proud moment was when I presented my leadership journey to members of the global board of directors.
Why are people essential to business success and why prioritize the focus on the individual?
I believe that people are at the heart of every business. The collective efforts of motivated and passionate individuals produce the most extraordinary results. Therefore, it makes good business sense to focus energy on talented people. Working with people in a collaborative way produces better results, creates a positive work environment, and is a great magnet for future talent.
What criteria and qualities do you look for when evaluating nominations for the People in Retail Award?
I look at how people can articulate how they have used their leadership skills, entrepreneurial spirit, and drive to make a positive impact to advance their respective businesses. It’s important for people to celebrate their accomplishments. I believe that sharing how you achieved your goals will motivate others to do the same.
Do you have any advice or top tips for companies entering the market?
We’re here to celebrate those who go above and beyond in their everyday business lives. We’d love to see clear examples of how companies are collaborating with the talent in their networks to move their industries forward.
