Ahead of the film’s Netflix release, I had the pleasure of speaking with Brown about her performance in the film. maidenconsidering what the fantasy genre speaks to her, including the physicality with which Elodie is portrayed, and the film’s inclusion of a dragon (voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo), a mythical creature.

“The fact that you’re reading this book made me think, ‘I’m reading a fairy tale, and she gets married and finds her prince, and that’s a really good story.’ ” And I love this. ” And, oh wait, there are still 100 pages left. And you’re just like, “Oh, what else is going to happen?” I think maybe in the first 20 pages or so, you’re like, “Oh, this is like the ending of a movie.” And it’s really just the beginning,” Brown said.
In addition to the film not being exactly what it seems, Brown used a lot of her physicality to play Elodie, something she hasn’t had to do as much in previous films and found it rewarding. Told.
“It’s really difficult. Well, I had a lot of physical therapy. And I basically had to learn how to navigate the sets, the dragons, the costumes and my body. I mean , it’s the first time I’ve had to do stunts like I do in this movie. There’s also things like corsets and skirt cages. I’ve never worked on anything more terrifying in my life. [laughs] You know, it just has a mind of its own. If you move in that direction, it will somehow move in that direction. I don’t know how that happens. But it happens. And you’re running with it. And it’s really difficult. So I was really challenged with this movie, for sure,” Brown said.

Despite the uncooperative skirt cage, Brown told me that she is happy to be back working in the fantasy genre and enjoys the escapism it provides.
“I think there’s so much going on in the world, and especially for young people coming out of COVID-19, the world can be a really scary and overwhelming place. Around the world, your Like there’s a lot of anxiety around. And it helps people, especially my generation, and even my sister’s generation, to escape from reality, take a break, and just enjoy what’s not going on in the world right now. I think it’s great to see things. Maybe it’s a princess fighting a dragon, or I personally know what my escapism is like. Harry potter and i love twilight I love relaxing movies. And you think, “Oh, yeah, I don’t have to think about the world right now.” And you can escape, and I think that’s the beauty of filmmaking,” Brown said.
Of course, there are few creatures scarier than dragons. Although Brown spends much of his time avoiding firebreathers, he is an animal lover. Knowing this, I wondered, if I had the opportunity to add a new pet to my already large herd, which fictional or mythical creature would I choose?
“Hmm, what’s inside…wait, is Jake here?” What’s inside? Star Wars?Ewok! It is very cute! I think it’s an Ewok. ”
