Renowned gospel singer Peter Omuwaka, also known as Guardian Angel, has warned fellow artistes against giving media interviews, saying they are a threat to the career of any artiste.
In an undated video clip, Guardian Angel was seen scolding some artists for giving interviews with the media, telling them to stop immediately and focus on their music.
In the video, Guardian Angel, accompanied by his wife Esther Musila, can be heard saying that the media will use the interview to bring shame and ridicule to the artist.
“Wacheni kufanya interview, Imbeni song, Imbeni song. Wachana na hij vitu the main interview. Watu wanataka to song. Mambo sijui nani alifanya nini, nani akafanya. ..Haiyo vitu wachana nazo kavisa. Muthu akikuita interview kataa. Because interview jinawaua, hajiwajengi,” I heard Angel’s voice.
“Watu wanaumauma hizo vitu mnasema halahu wanawajitumia to you. So wachaneni na hao kavisa. Hao ndio wanawaua. Kataa kela kavisa, kataa kamara. Inba tu. .Ile siku unaone kana ku camera ni kushut video, sio quongia,” he added.
Guardian and his wife Esther then jumped into their car and drove off, leaving behind the laughing artist they were advising.
The singer has been the talk of the town on social media platforms, especially after his marriage to the older Esther.
Guardian was 32 years old and Esther was 50, but many Kenyans, not used to such arrangements, found it unusual and therefore questioned Guardian’s choice.
However, the singer remained adamant about his relationship with his wife, and the two did not listen to critics. And in fact, they seem to be staying together even as they move forward with their marriage.
Perhaps the stories written and told about the couple kept them away from the media, creating a frosty relationship between them and the media.
And true to his word, Guardian Angel continues to soar with new releases, firmly etching their name on the gospel music map.
