Li Automobile (NASDAQ: LI) has fired two employees for allegedly accepting paid interviews without permission, becoming the second Chinese company to do so in the past two months after Xiaomi (HKG: 1810).
According to Li Auto’s statement today, from November 2022 to January 2024, two Li Auto employees with the surnames Wang and Fang were exposed to outside parties without permission, despite having signed non-disclosure agreements. He repeatedly violated the law by agreeing to paid interviews with intermediaries.
Their actions led to the company’s trade secrets being leaked, with serious consequences, Lee Ort said.
According to the statement, Li Auto terminated the employment contracts of the two employees, recovered unjust profits, and withdrew their vested and unvested stock options.
Li Auto said the company prohibits current employees, retirees and partners under confidentiality obligations from disclosing the company’s trade secrets.
At the same time, Li Auto stated that it reserves the right to pursue legal liability against affiliated securities companies and investment institutions.
Li Auto stated that it does not condone any infringement of trade secrets and will resolutely oppose it.
The company’s statement did not mention anything related to the breach by its two employees.
Xiaomi announced on December 19, 2023 that it had fired three employees in its automotive business for attending unauthorized meetings with investment institutions and spreading false information.
