Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday sent legal notices to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary Jairam Ramesh for sharing a “twisted and distorted” version of one of their interviews on the X show.
Gadkari said the Congress posted the 19-second audio and video clippings by “hiding the contextual intent and meaning” of the interview. He claimed that this “evil act” was carried out solely for the purpose of “inciting and causing confusion, sensation and bad publicity”.
The 66-year-old asked Parliament to remove the post “within 24 hours of receiving this legal notice” and demanded a written apology within three days.
He said the video clip was factually incorrect and was a “deliberate attempt” by Congress leaders to “insult and disparage” him and “incite members of the Bhartiya Janata Party to create ideological This was linked to an intention to cause a rift.” He claimed the clip caused “significant reputational damage, defamation and a significant loss of trust.”
“The interview was also twisted, distorted and displayed on the ‘X’ wall of the micro-blogging site by uploading the above video which has been deleted and is devoid of any contextual meaning. ” the notice says.

The Minister for Road Transport and Highways said that Parliament had cut out a section that highlighted the amount of effort being put into it, which has also yielded good results during the current federal government’s tenure.
“(They) posted the video with captions in Hindi, deliberately and maliciously concealing the contextual meaning of the interaction, in order to deliberately tarnish (the minister’s) reputation,” he said.
Congress has not yet responded to the notice.
