In a moving interview before his death, Johnny Irwin shared the heartbreaking message he would leave for his three children.
The Place in the Sun star, who died of lung cancer aged 50, had three young boys with wife Jessica.
Last summer, Johnny opened up about his terminal diagnosis and the wise words he plans to leave to his sons.
He said “HELLO!” Magazine: “I want them to believe that they can do anything…I want them to have confidence, believe in yourself, because you can do anything…I want them to believe that they can do anything… have come, and they are endless.”
Johnny’s message to his sons includes: “Family first, always take care of your family. Brothers, moms… put them first. Support them, love them and make sure they are loved by others.” Please know that you are more important than anyone else.”
He went on to say “believe in yourself” because “they can do anything.”

Johnny leaves behind his wife Jessica, son Rex and twins Rafa and Cormac, aged 4 and 3.
He was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2020, one week after filming A Place in the Sun in Italy.
Tragically, the cancer spread to his brain and Johnny revealed in 2022 that he only has six months to live.
Today (Friday, February 2), his family revealed that he had passed away.
Amidst the tributes, A Place in the Sun released an official statement saying the Channel 4 show’s cast and staff were “heartbroken”.
“We are heartbroken. Johnny was a much-loved member of the Place in the Sun family and brought joy, wit and energy to the show for over 18 years. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Jess, the boys and the rest of Johnny’s family today. ”
Johnny appeared on A Place In The Sun for 18 years.
Meanwhile, co-star Jasmine Harman spoke in glowing terms about her late friend and her admiration for him following his death.
She wrote on Instagram: “Johnny, you have taught me so much as a colleague and a good friend. The way you have faced life with cancer with positivity and determination has inspired me. I have never respected you more than I have in the past few years.” “I don’t know anyone as strong as you. You did something that made yourself, your loved ones, and all of us proud.”
“The world is a little darker without you today, but thinking about you always makes me smile. My partner in crime and OG co-presenter Johnny, I will miss you. ”
Johnny, who was also the host of Escape to the Country, never ran away from the harsh treatment he had to endure.
The Brave star has been keeping fans updated on social media and was pictured wearing a hospital gown a week ago.
An exhausted Johnny took a selfie before his MRI scan and admitted he looked like he had “not slept in six nights”.
Announcing his tragic death, Johnny’s family wrote on Instagram tonight:
“A truly wonderful soul, he bravely battled cancer with unwavering strength and courage. Johnny touched the lives of many with his kindness, warmth and contagious spirit.
“At this time, we ask for privacy as Johnny’s family navigates this profound loss. Their loss is immeasurable and we deeply appreciate everyone’s thoughts, prayers and support. Masu.
“Let’s celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts as we remember the beautiful moments we shared with Johnny. Johnny may be gone from our memory, but his love… Laughter and memories live on.
“Rest in Peace, dear Johnny. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten.”
