What was your breakthrough moment? I was on a bus going to Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat And I met a guy named Johnny Logan. When we talked about music, he said, “Thank you very much,” and that’s how things got started. Johnny had the look, the voice, and everything else that made a poster boy. Eurovision was held in The Hague in 1980. What’s another year? I won. It was unreal.we were on top of the pops, Germany, Turkey, everywhere. Johnny was very fun and always kind to everyone.
What is the secret to the longevity of your business? Being kind is very important. You have to be kind and you have to be honest. It’s a fake business, but the good ones will stay. The biggest person is kind.i was walking down the hallway X factor One night Paul McCartney was a guest and he said, “Hello, Louis.” I thought, “He knows me!” The Beatles are alive!
What is your greatest strength in your job? I like what I do. I like music, I like singing. I’m a hustler, but I’m not as confident as I pretend to be. It may be removed by the artist at any time. Once they become famous, they think they don’t need a manager. That’s the cycle. Westlife has always stayed with me. There’s a loyalty to Irish bands. I don’t trust British law.
Have you ever thought about retirement? No, I love what I do. And I’ll do it as much as I can. I don’t need to work. I’m lucky and I know it. That’s the secret, you have to know it. I don’t believe any hype.
I deal with setbacks… Talk to people you trust. You must have good people around you.
My first experience of sadness was… When my grandmother passed away. Sarah Walsh (we called her Maddie) lived with us. I loved her and she loved me. She knew I hated school and she protected me. She was so good to me that when she passed away in my late teens, I never got over and never forgot about her.
What are the important female relationships in your life? my mother. my sister. I love Caroline Downey, Sharon Osbourne, and Kathryn Rogers.
Most of my friendships… Authentic. I like it to last. I want people to understand that I’m not perfect and that I’m a bit of a loose cannon. Sharon Osbourne said I don’t have a filter. That’s fine. I like people like that. I’m attracted to people who are a little different. I don’t usually like it.
In my opinion, the most physically attractive feature is… my smile I don’t think I’m attractive, but I think people like me.
The symbol of my style is… jeans. I always buy Brown Thomas with Jeff (Thompson).
My favorite shoes are… Prada. I love shoes and Prada is always nice.
Do you like tanning? I love the heat and light of Miami. I go there every winter and sit in the shade.
My exercise routine includes… I’m walking, but I’m not exercising. I know I’m lazy and that’s okay. I had never been to a gym in my life. One peek was enough.
What I read recently… Interspersed shots: life, music, Elton and me Written by Bernie Taupin (British-American lyricist best known for his songwriting partnership with Elton John). I like biographies of people involved in music, but I don’t want stories that are glorified. I want a war story.
What I heard recently… megyn kelly show. (This American journalist and media personality hosts her own live talk show and podcast every day.) I like her. she’s smart
What holiday would you like to go on again? Barcelona. And I want to go to Mallorca. I don’t like long flights.
My signature dish is… there is nothing. I can’t cook. I like strong tea, so I can make that.
A perfect weekend includes… I was in Dublin, going to a restaurant and doing a little shopping. I love doing nothing and I love Dublin. I feel safe here.
