Mark Robins said his side were in a “good feeling” ahead of Friday night’s clash with Preston North End at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
City will play PNE in the championship. This will be the first of two games to be played over four days and one week.
In their last encounter, the Sky Blues earned three points against Stoke City thanks to a strike from Ellis Sims.
Looking ahead to tomorrow night’s game, the Robins are expecting a tough challenge against manager Ryan Lowe’s side.
We play Preston North End this weekend…
“There is an atmosphere of optimism around us, everyone is in good spirits and looking forward to the game.
Preston are a tough team, they have some good players, they have really good experience, they will try to put us under pressure and it will be a really difficult team, but they are a team we can look forward to.
A positive performance and three points would bode well for next week’s game against West Brom in Maidstone. ”
Looking back at the last game against PNE…
“It gave us food for thought, and things changed dramatically in the wake of that, and it was a line in the sand.
Since that game we’ve done pretty well, played some good football and got some good results, and in the games before that we played well but we didn’t win enough and we had quite a few draws. We didn’t lose much, but we were trying to find our rhythm.
It just so happened that we made a lot of changes to the team and that also had an impact, but from that point on the team performed much better and the points earned will be visible to everyone. ”
In the battle for the top six, they will face a new team…
“The only thing we can do is focus on ourselves and get everyone in the right physical and mental state to play, but this is the next game.
Matches against them are always tough and competitive, so I hope we can get a good result. ”
How is the team…
“After the Stoke game I gave them a few days off and I think other managers have done the same. “We look at the players and know when they need a breather and we have to work harder. You should know what’s wrong.”
It’s probably benefited a little more than others, but there’s some work going on as well, so it’s not completely shut down.
Since injuries to Ben Thief and Jamie Allen put us at a disadvantage because we tried to rest people and couldn’t do that, we’re playing with smaller numbers and playing certain positions like midfield, so it’s a balance. It was an act of taking something.
We’re in a situation where we want everyone to be as ready as possible to play, and they’re thick and fast, but that’s the nature of it. ”
Latest news on Victor Tope…
“Victor is feeling a little better. He’s not in any pain, so we’ll have some tests done today and then make a decision.
We’re balancing risk and reward, so we’ll take a look and make a decision later today after our physical therapist has assessed him. ”
