Lewis Binks gave an honest assessment after the Sky Blues lost to Preston North End at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
With three goals in the first half, the Sky Blues were unable to come back and pulled away from the match.
After the match, Binks reflected on the match.
Performance and results…
“You can’t hide the fact, we all knew we weren’t at that stage today. We didn’t start well enough.
“They are an experienced team and we made them look like that.
“They were first on every ball and we couldn’t hide the fact that we didn’t feel like it. It’s hard to do this (interview) because what can I say?
“Everyone knew it, everyone saw it. We just weren’t at our level.”
COnce in the first minute…
“Once you do that, you can go down and you can come back from it, but we went down.
“There’s not much to say.”
The second point is…
“They pressed us so it was difficult to play.
“But we can’t just use that as an excuse. We have to find a way.
“We had chances to clear, but we couldn’t clear. After scoring the two goals, I didn’t think the game would end there.
“You can go in two directions, and we failed.”
Sakamoto’s injury…
“He’s done it. Obviously he hurt himself and that’s also a big loss.
“We have too many players, so we can’t afford to lose again. It’s getting harder now.”
Changes made at halftime…
“Jay (DaSilva) was out, but it could have been any of us. He could have made any difference because none of us were at our level. ”
As for league standings…
“It’s obviously painful and disappointing right now, but we have to learn from this and move forward.
“This is another game we need to consider. We can’t overlook the fact that we weren’t good enough today.
“There’s 12 games left and we’re still in the (playoff) race.”
