After the win against Burton, goalkeeper Harry Lewis said:
When asked how it felt to get the long-awaited three points, Harry said: That’s why we play football, to win games and as a goalkeeper I’m here to keep clean sheets. I haven’t done that yet, but I’m pretty disappointed in myself and all of us for not having spent the time here with any meaning whatsoever. The league position will not change, but I want to enjoy it. ”
The shot-stopper kept his first clean sheet in Tuesday’s win at the Pirelli Stadium and added: And while you might want your goalkeeper to be there in important moments, I’m quite critical of myself and probably haven’t done that before.
“I was there tonight when the team needed me, and that gives me pride and satisfaction.”
The Blues went into half-time 1-0 up, but when asked what Paul Simpson’s message was during the interval, he replied: Looking back at Saturday, we were leading 1-0 and there was a feeling that we were sitting deeper and deeper and thinking that would be OK, but even today when we won 1-0, I thought we played where we could and played where we could. Brave on the ball.
“Tonight it was just about being professional. We knew we were coming here looking for scraps, we knew what they were going to do and to be honest. I’m really proud of the way our players rose to it.”
“We’re technically a good team, but I think what we’re probably missing is being street-oriented, being a little more aggressive, being a little more physical.
“I’m really happy that I was able to cross the line today.”
Lewis said of United’s away support: “It’s great because it’s a Tuesday night, we have a long way to go, we’ve got a good hotel and we’re staying overnight and they’re finishing up and leaving.
“It’s important that they come and support us. To be honest, we don’t give them much to shout about.
“Looking at the teams competing for the shirt today, I hope they get some satisfaction.
“We play again on Saturday. That’s the beauty of football at this level. We play Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, and it’s difficult when you’re losing because you have to break that chain. But we haven’t done that for a while.
“It’s great to go into the game as a winner, and I hope to take that confidence and momentum into the next game and build on it.
“As you say, this is my first clean sheet, but I believe it’s the first of many.”
United are showing signs of improvement, despite not having the results they need in recent weeks.
“It might sound really silly sitting at the bottom of the league, but I truly believe we’ve got a really good team here. A lot of talent, good character, good people in that room. But for some reason, it hasn’t really clicked with us yet.
“Mathematically it’s possible, but you have to believe.
“Displays like tonight can be seen as a positive and we can build on that. We want to make sure that this is not just a temporary thing, this is not a one-off, and that we But you can do it again.
“We face another tough test at the weekend, but we’ll have to go at it again on Saturday.
“It’s great to have a little bit of confidence, and it’s important to keep it going for as long as possible.”
