Ellis Sims will be hoping to build on his goals from the last two games, which saw him lead the Sky Blues to three points against Stoke City.
Sims scored in the 2-2 draw with Plymouth in midweek and backed it up as the winner in the 1-0 win at bet365 Stadium.
After the final whistle, Sims reflected on the win against the Potters and his recent form.
Thoughts on the match…
“Yeah, we had to dig deeper today. We came here and knew it was going to be a tough game, but we got the three points and that’s the most important thing.”
At the goal…
“I think it was a ball from O’Hare, he slipped it through and I took it for the first time.
“I looked up at the keeper’s positioning and there was a little gap at the near post so I just passed it into the corner. It’s always nice to celebrate in front of the fans.”
Scored in front of away fans…
“Yeah, that’s nice. You saw a lot of fans that they brought in today and obviously they have to be here so we just want to give back to them. We had a good performance. We need to do that. I think they’re happy with that.”
“We got the three points, that’s what’s important.”
As a striker, I feel the expectation of scoring…
“I mean, personally, I’m a striker. I want to score goals. So sometimes when the ball isn’t coming down, I lose a little bit of confidence.
“The only thing you can really do is keep working hard at training.
“I scored today and against Plymouth so I hope we can build on that. “The important thing is that the team is scoring goals, but the goals are coming from the left and the right. He also comes from No. 10, so there wasn’t much pressure.”
It’s starting to feel like we’ve got 3 goals in 6 games…
“I’m happy. As long as I’m just contributing to the goals, scoring three out of six is not a bad return. So I’m just going to build on that, keep working hard and hopefully keep going.”
On playing in several different positions…
“The way the manager assesses me is I think we are on the edge at the moment and we have some injuries so we need to be really flexible.
“I’m willing to work hard and play wherever the coach tells me to.”
Looking forward to Preston…
“I know it’s going to be a tough game. I think we fell short 3-2 at our opponent. So, I’d like to go there at home, keep the momentum going, and hopefully win.”
