genuine estate
If you haven’t heard Real Estate before and don’t plan on starting with this new record, I think the second album is a great place to start. day to day. It’s kind of the right sonic middle ground based on where we’ve come from and where we are now. We started recording ourselves and it became very lo-fi. I think the songwriting technique was already pretty much established. The sound of the first record and his second record was based on the limitations that we had, and I think it was really successful and cool. There’s a faded feel to this album, and it’s definitely an album for people who wonder, “What is real estate?”
Fans of the band may point out to people one of the following day to day or atlas They are right next to each other. I think it would be a good idea to start with 2 of his works and look at them in chronological order. If you liked these two records, there’s a good chance you’ll like all of our other stuff as well, including the new record.
Alex breaker and The freaks
Freaks was an all-encompassing name for me and for anyone I could find someone to play with. After that, it solidified as a specific band. So I thought: crazy horse. I wouldn’t call it a freak to do without that particular group of people. ” There’s an album by Alex Bleecker and the Freaks, and I think this is the best amalgamation of that version of the band. national agenda. It was at a time when that band was really active and playing together all the time, and they came to California and we did a California cosmic country album. I love you and I’m proud of you.
Alex breaker
I made a solo record a few years ago. That’s my name, not a freak, it’s called heaven on the fault. That’s what I’ve been up to lately. That album was based on a demo I made and I really liked the quality of it. There was something really cool about this home spin demo with a drum machine and weird keyboard. We took those songs to a better studio and recreated the demo sound. I was really happy with the result. This is an indication of my recent situation.
taperMr. Miss. choice
“Taper’s Choice” is the most fun thing I’ve ever done. It’s just pure fun. It’s me and other players in indie rock groups with varying degrees of recognition. The drummer is vampire weekendthe guitarist is dave harringtonperson who plays with dark side He has countless other jobs in the jazz and electronic world, and is also a keyboard player. Zach TenorioHe is a member of a band called. arc irisAnd he’s the greatest musician I’ve ever known, in terms of chops and feel.
We started a jam band with no regrets. I’ve been a fan of jam bands ever since I loved music. I’m also a fan of all kinds of things traditionally covered. large scale takeover So is alternative music, indie rock music, weird outsider art, and experimental music. Jam band stuff is kind of a joke a lot. I was like, “I’m secretly a jam band fan.” There’s more crossover than people realize, and it’s becoming less of a dirty word.
We thought the most subversive thing was to start a jam band and call it a jam band and just play with that culture. We’re also influenced by things that people don’t necessarily associate with jam bands, but are actually improvisational, like a lot of krautrock, a lot of jazz fusion, a lot of prog rock. . yes and again Grateful Dead and Phishing. Even the jam bands of that world don’t say things like that, so it’s really amazing that they get angry about it and say things like that. It’s like, “We’re an improvisational art rock ensemble.” They probably don’t want to be called a jam band any more than indie rockers who think it’s cute. It’s easy for us, but I feel like just saying it out loud makes you realize, “This is the kind of band we are.” It turns out that it attracts people with all kinds of tastes.
There is one LP out and its title is History of Taper’s Choice – Volume 1: Taper’s Choice. All of my mixtapes and experimental mixes were on Bandcamp. You can get volumes 1 to 5 and this the history of It is a combination of all these volumes. This is like a “best of” version of our first record.
None of them are on Spotify, they’re all on Bandcamp. Head over to Bandcamp to delve into the world of Taper’s Choice and see if you like it. Many people say, “Jam, he doesn’t like bands, but he likes this,” in a somewhat cheerful way. So I think, “Well, we’re a jam band, so maybe you just like jam bands.” It was fun to play around with that psychology a little bit.
