One office worker revealed the most common questions asked at the end of a job interview, and that trick helped him land the role every time.
Katherine Lockhart from Texas said the best advice she ever received was to ask, “What does excellence look like in this role?” At the end of her interview.
The 28-year-old worked in consulting and sales immediately after graduating from university.
“I use this advice in the interview process, and every time I ask it, the interviewer always says, ‘Wow, that’s a really good question.’ So now that we’ve reached the end, do you have any questions? “The answer should always be ‘yes’,” she said in the video.
She explained: “It gives the interviewer a chance to explain a little more about the day-to-day responsibilities of the role.”
This question also shows that you are interested in the position and intend to do a great job if you get the position.
“It shows the interviewer that you are serious about performing and exceeding expectations,” Katherine said.
She also warned about questions you should never ask.
“Don’t mention PTO (paid time off) and don’t ask if they have other benefits,” she advised.
Many agreed with Catherine’s point.
One recruiter said, “If I had a dollar for every time I was asked how much vacation time I had in an interview,” “And I never hired people like that!”
“This question can also raise a red flag. If the interviewer says, ‘Our top performers work all the time, put in extra hours, and are free on weekends,’ that’s what you want.” You get to decide if it’s work-life balance or not,” wrote another.
Some people also shared some other tips and tricks.
“I ask if they have any concerns about me taking the role and address them on the spot. That question has gotten me every job offer,” said one.
“Another great question is to ask the interviewer what gives you the most satisfaction in your role,” the man said.
“They love to talk about themselves!”
