Recruiters have all kinds of frustrations when it comes to interviews. For example, nearly a third (30%) say that not researching the company they were interviewing with beforehand was a big negative. This is according to a November 2023 survey of 1,200 adults conducted by HR software company Ringover.
When preparing for an interview, you should also be prepared for questions about your own work history. You can prepare Look through your resume to see if it touches on similar highlights, or ask a friend to rehearse your interview. You can also use generative AI tools like ChatGPT.
The app is a “great co-pilot” for interview preparation, said Simon Taylor, a former Disney recruiter and author of the forthcoming leadership book Build Smart. Here’s why and how he recommends using it:

Taylor himself had this to say to Bot: “I’m interviewing for a job, so I’m going to provide you with a job description, and I’d like you to provide me with a list of interview questions,” he says. . “And you literally just paste in the job description.”
If you think it would be helpful, you can make your app more specific and tell it to ask certain types of questions. For example, if you’re a project manager, you can ask them to ask you questions about the challenges they might face in leading a team.
“We expect ChatGPT to provide seven to 10 questions to provide comprehensive information,” says Taylor.
Of course, apps can’t 100% predict what questions you’ll be asked in a job interview. But it will help you prepare and start thinking about the best way to express yourself.
“Preparation of any kind helps you organize your thoughts and identify the best or most relevant experiences you want to highlight,” he says. Practice will help you hone your answers and understand exactly what you want to say. Taylor’s top interview tip is to keep your answers short and take about a minute each. He says it shows respect for the interviewer.
Using ChatGPT is “absolutely a smart approach” to ensuring you’re prepared for your interview, Taylor says.
