A criminologist has uncovered tell-tale signs that Brianna Gee’s killer murdered the teenage girl, as two of the serial killer’s obsessions are sentenced to life in prison.
On Friday, Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe were sentenced to minimum terms of 22 and 20 years in prison, respectively, for the murder of teenager Brianna Gee.
Dr David Holmes, a criminal psychologist and author of Abnormal, Clinical and Forensic Psychology, told MailOnline that Ratcliffe showed a very “autistic side” in the arrest footage. He said it was very “impersonal”.
“He’s avoiding eye contact and interaction, and there’s a lot of migratory activity going on. He’s not running away or anything, but he’s trying to occupy his mind in other ways. I’m avoiding it.
“Even if he messes around, it doesn’t really come through.”
The body of “feebleminded” Brianna lies face down in the mud with 28 stab wounds after a “frenzied” attack at a popular park near Warrington, Cheshire, on February 11 last year. was discovered.
A judge today ruled that a 16-year-old girl was murdered because she was transgender, and the CPS is now treating the murder as a hate crime.
The pair showed no emotion as they were told they would have to serve 20 years in prison, but Jenkinson’s mother began crying in court. She previously heard that she had created a second “kill list” after Jenkinson’s death. detained – Also includes the names of some of the people caring for her.
Described by the victim’s mother as a “danger to society,” her twisted killers had meticulously planned their attack, leaving a handwritten note in Jenkinson’s room that read: “Saturday, February 11, 2023. Victim: Brianna Gee.” They then desperately tried to cover their tracks, with Jenkinson posting on Snapchat praising Brianna as “an amazing friend” and “one of the best people I’ve ever met.”
In contrast, Dr Holmes said Mr Jenkinson was much more “interactive” in the arrest footage, making eye contact and being “much more alert and responsive”.
“She seems to be wondering why people think she did it… It was a tentative cover-up plan, but she was surprised and failed.”
“She seems surprised that she was arrested, as she had planned to avoid being found.”
A crime expert said she was “blind” to the fact that people could see through her “fabrication”.
He said Mr Jenkinson was much more “confrontational and ready for a fight” than Mr Ratcliffe.
Mr Jenkinson was told today he would have to serve more than 20 years behind bars, but he did not react. She sat, blinking occasionally, as she was addressed by the judge and briefly questioned a mediator or approved adult who was sitting next to her in the courtroom.
The mother was sitting on the right side of the general public seating area, wiping tears from her eyes with a tissue.
Ratcliffe also sat and stared right in front of him, but made no visible reaction as the sentence was handed down. He was taken to the cell without looking at his mother, who was sitting to the left of his dock.
Dr Holmes said during sentencing that Jenkinson acted similar to Ratcliffe, dehumanizing the situation and “not really reacting”.
“These people are essentially apathetic,” he said. “The judge could have texted them the results.”
The judge said Jenkinson was motivated by a “deep desire” to kill, while Ratcliffe was “motivated in part by animosity toward Brianna because she was transgender.” concluded.
He used “dehumanizing” language, repeatedly referred to her as “it” and speculated about whether she screamed “like a man” or a girl. In one message, he told Jenkinson that he wanted to kill Brianna because he “wanted to know how big it was.”
Judge Yip said he believed both were partly driven by transphobia, as each murderer knew the other’s motives.
