The Bedfest performance “Highway to Hell” will be performed on Wednesday, January 31st. This production is brought to audiences through the creative collaboration of two of Bedlam Theater’s leading figures. Director Lauren Green, writer and director of “This Is How It Happened” and “Fringe 2023,” and writer and actor Hugh Turnbull, writer and director of last semester’s very famous “Slash.” assistant director. This witty and quirky murder mystery has all the makings of an entertaining and engaging watch. A shake-up of the usual “whodunnit” tropes, the eclectic mix of whimsical characters (played by many of Bedlam’s famous faces) is firmly rooted in his always-cool 1979 setting, and cleverly The audience is sure to nod at the intertwined stories. 70’s soundtrack (including, of course, the 1979 release titled “Highway to Hell”).
Set in the heat of summer, six eccentric characters aboard rock star Vinnie Rotton’s tour bus explore murder mysteries such as Knives Out and Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. Inspired by life-sized characters. , strives to uncover the murderer. No traffic lights, confined to the cramped quarters of a tour bus, in the summer heat…what happens? Mr Turnbull, who is currently studying postgraduate playwriting after focusing on crime fiction for his dissertation, shares his obvious love of murder mysteries and talent in the field, calling the genre “universal.” We invited a variety of audiences to Wednesday’s performance. Green similarly ignites the era of rock and roll, infusing his 1979 vision into every aspect of his performance, further enthralling his audience.
This inescapable theatrical delight will appeal not only to theater lovers but also to those looking for a 75-minute escapist interlude.
