Irving School Union 28 will conduct interviews with three final candidates for the superintendent position Friday afternoon and evening at Swift River School in New Salem.

NEW SALEM — Public interviews for the three finalists to become Irving School Union 28’s next superintendent will be held Friday at Swift River School, with a possible selection by the Joint Board of Supervisors later that evening.
Interviews will begin at 4:30 p.m. at 201 Wendell Road, first with Deanna LeBlanc, Director of Curriculum, Gateway Regional School District, followed by Deanna LeBlanc, Director of Evaluation and Accountability, Westfield Schools, at 5:45 p.m. Director Christine Hsieh will interview you. The school then closed at 7 p.m. with Athol Community Elementary School Principal Shannon White-Cleveland.
The finalists will retire at the end of their ninth year overseeing a school union comprised of four elementary schools serving preschool through sixth grade students in Shutesbury, Leverett, Irving, Wendell and New Salem. He is vying to succeed Jennifer Culkeen. . His four elementary schools in the union have a total enrollment of about 525 students.
As time permits, we will set aside time to interact with candidates between interviews.
The Joint Board of Supervisors meeting will be followed by a public interview, during which representatives from the five towns will consider public input, debate and deliberation, and then take a final vote on who will be offered the job and begin contract negotiations. .
