Columbia is close to naming a president and CEO for the nonprofit organization that manages Howard County’s largest community.
The Columbia Association announced in a news release Thursday that its board has begun interviewing top applicants to narrow down the top candidates for the executive position.
The association, a large homeowners association that functions like city government in many ways, has been in a permanent position since Lakey Boyd abruptly resigned in January 2023 amid tensions with the board. The chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the company is absent.
Virtual interviews with top applicants followed a month-long national search. At this time, the board will not disclose the number of applicants being interviewed, said association spokeswoman Danica Lines. However, the board is expected to name a final candidate later this month.
“We look forward to the board’s final decision and the leadership that our new president and CEO will bring to CA’s mission of improving the quality of life in the Columbia community,” said Monica McMellon, the association’s director of human resources and diversity.・Mr. Ajay said. Dennis Matti, who assumed the role of chairman and CEO on an interim basis more than a year ago, will retire from his role on April 30th. Matti is a 50-year veteran of the association, most recently serving as vice president of community operations.
A new leader is tentatively scheduled to take office in May.
