Daly has New England connections with Brian Daboll
The New York Giants met with Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coach Brendan Daly on Saturday, adding a seventh known candidate to their defensive coordinator search. This report is by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Daley has ties to Giants head coach Brian Daboll from his time with the New England Patriots. Daley, 48, was with New England from 2014 to 2018, first as a defensive assistant and then as defensive line coach.
Daley has been with the Chiefs since 2019, first as defensive line coach and run game coordinator and then as linebackers coach the past two seasons.
During his time with the Patriots and Chiefs, Daley was a member of five Super Bowl championship teams.
Daley began coaching in the NFL in 2006. He worked twice with the Minnesota Vikings and was Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive line coach with the St. Louis Rams from 2009 to 2011.
Daley has never been a defensive coordinator.
The Giants also held a second interview for the defensive coordinator position with Baltimore Ravens secondary coach Denard Wilson on Saturday.
Other known candidates include Giants defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, Tennessee Titans’ Shane Bowen, Miami Dolphins’ Anthony Campanile, Buffalo Bills’ Bobby Babic and Los Angeles Chargers. Derrick Ansley and others.
