When it was announced that Bradley Cooper would be playing legendary conductor Leonard Bernstein in 2023’s Maestro, many fans were left scratching their heads. However, despite the controversy surrounding the biopic, many were willing to give him a chance.
It’s no secret that fans have been making fun of Cooper’s performance and subsequent awards campaign, but an interview currently circulating on social media raises the bar even further.

In fact, fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing when it came to Cooper’s strong connection with Bernstein.
Bradley Cooper mocked online after ‘insane’ interview
A clip of Bradley Cooper’s interview is going viral on TikTok and X, in which he can be seen getting extremely emotional as he says he “misses” Leonard Bernstein.
The interview was conducted with Leonard Bernstein’s real-life children, and they asked Cooper if he missed his on-screen alter ego. Cooper was visibly shaken by the question.

“It’s hard to talk about it,” he tells the Bernstein children. “We shared something very special.”
The footage cuts back and forth to show Cooper and Bernstein’s children looking on as Cooper weeps as he talks about his late father. The video’s caption clearly states, “I’ve never met Bradley Cooper.” [Leonard Bernstein]”, completely confusing his reaction on the internet.
“Leonard Bernstein passed away in 1990,” the TikTok comment read. Another wrote: “That’s a really insane statement.”

In X, bullying didn’t improve much. The idea that he experienced such an emotional reaction in front of Bernstein’s biological children (and had such a reaction when he still never had one) met Bernstein) baffled many.

Honestly, this isn’t the first time an actor has gotten super attached to a character, real or out. Bradley Cooper’s reaction is difficult for non-actors to understand, but it’s not uncommon in the grand scheme of Hollywood.
