President Biden is scheduled to travel to Manhattan on Monday to record an interview with late-night show host Seth Meyers, the Post reported.
A person familiar with the president’s schedule divulged the commander-in-chief’s plans, which have not been publicly disclosed by the White House or the Biden campaign.
Biden, 81, has given far fewer interviews during his three-year term than his recent predecessor and has not given any interviews to American newspaper reporters.
The president’s afternoon trip to the Big Apple will also include a fundraiser at a nearby hotel.
Myers’ show will air after midnight on NBC.
Biden, who has spent most of his interviews answering friendly questioners, visited New York last June for an on-site interview with MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace and awkwardly walked off-set before a commercial break to talk about the topic. called.
The White House and Biden campaign did not immediately respond to The Post’s requests for comment, nor did NBC.
Meyers famously mocked Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington in 2011, which Trump’s opponents believe was a contributing factor to the success of his 2016 presidential campaign. He claims to have been the driving force.
President Trump, who is expected to face Biden in a rematch in November, had choice words for Meyers.
“The talentless comic was terrible — ‘Marble Mouth,’ because he can’t speak properly,” President Trump told the Post in a 2020 Oval Office interview.
“Seth Meyers, he was mean. Only one joke. This man has no talent,” President Trump fumed.
“Zero. How do these people get jobs? I don’t understand. Seth Meyers how, how [Stephen] Colbert has no talent, there’s nothing interesting about him, and there’s nothing interesting about him. You look at some of these people and you say, “How do they find jobs?” They’re so average. ”
“And I know extraordinary talents, and I know them better than anyone, but there are zero guys like Seth Meyers. And he only said one or two nasty things. . And he mispronounced words and was extremely nervous and couldn’t speak properly. That’s why I call him Marble Mouth.”
