Despite three-time defending champion Ludwig Aberg graduating from Texas Tech and moving forward with his professional career, the Red Raiders and Tyrann Snyder’s team will remain at the Greg Norman course in La Quinta, Calif. One event at PGA West, The Prestige, still leaves an impression on me.
After the first round, Texas Tech leads the team at 13-under 271 with a three-shot lead over Kansas State and Washington State. Kansas State and Washington State are T2 at 10-under 274. The University of Louisville is alone in fourth place with a 7-under 277, while Kansas State and Washington State are in second place with a 10-under 274. He is in 5th place with 6 under par, 278.
Colorado State took 6th place with a 3-under 281, and Duke took 7th with a 1-under 283, rounding out the under-par teams.

Snyders has been playing solid golf from fall to spring after making the last 32 at the 2023 British Amateur, finishing T2 at the William H. A 54-hole men’s college tournament held in California’s Coachella Valley. Many of major college golf’s top teams and players will participate in the All-Star field. Prestige is co-sponsored by eight-time NCAA champions Stanford University of the Pac 12 Conference and the University of California, Davis of the Big West Conference.
The college/amateur tournament fundraiser is held the day before the tournament begins and is a great way to see first-hand how these players (many of whom go on to careers on the PGA Tour) go about their business. .
