Division 3 State Championship: Senior Michael Gyima won first place with 55 points (6.51 points) and took second place with 300 points (35.31 points), leading Worcester Tech to second place with 39 points, the highest score in school history for the Eagles. Walpole won the title at the Reggie Lewis Center with 48 points.
Senior Cyprian Ojatav was right behind Gyima in the 300 meters, taking third place in 35.48 seconds. The duo also teamed with Michael Mirek and Wellington Freeman to lead Worcester Tech to victory in the 800-meter relay (1:31.21).
Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Phuc Ho set a new personal best in the shot put, finishing seventh with a record of 45 wins and 3.50 losses. His teammate Christian Agikum placed eighth in the long jump (20-6).
Nashoba placed 13th with a score of 15.5, with senior Connor Acherno setting a new personal record of 1:23.54 to win the 600 meters.
Shepherd Hill sophomore Anthony Graves placed eighth in the 300 meters (36.15 points).
women’s indoor track
Division 3 State Championship: Senior Caroline Collins took first place in the mile run, winning in 5:01.80, teammate Hannah Benoit took second place in the high jump (5-2), and Riley Joyce took second place in the 1,000-meter run (5-2). (3:05), Nashoba tied with Marblehead. 2nd place with 46 points.
The Wolves also racked up points in the relays, with Joyce and Collins teaming up with Ella Rogers and Diaville Nagle to win the 3,200 relay (10:05.05), followed by Erin Farmer, Lucy Lane, Ella Carr and Paulie Michel. He took second place in the 1,600 relay. Relay (4:11.92).
Tantaqua junior Hayley McCormack took second place in the high jump (5-2) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Ohemaa Ofosu took eighth place in the 55-meter jump (7.61 points).
