If you’re looking for the weirdest and most abstract interview questions in the financial services industry, your best bet is to apply to an HFT company. However, fintech is not without its share of headaches.
Most fintech interview questions seem to be mundane and mundane. Ask them to explain what they’ve done in previous roles and what they’ve already prepared for (or at least should have prepared for), such as examples of times when they “worked as a team” or “failed to deliver on a project.” You will be asked for it. 😑).
But sometimes a curveball presents itself. The two largest companies asking biased questions appear to be payments giant Stripe and digibank Revolut, but many of the biggest fintech companies do the same. Below we have compiled a list of 15 of the more interesting questions you may be asked.
Stripe interview questions
“Name three products that perform poorly but are still successful.”
“How do you build a Spotify for kids?”
“HiYou’ve been hired as CPO for a small brick-and-mortar supermarket chain with no online presence and declining revenue over the past 5-10 years. what would you do? “
”You’ve been hired by a consortium of airlines and given a budget of $1 million to change the perception that air travel isn’t fun. what would you do?”
“Can you write a new slogan for Stripe?”

Revolut interview questions
“Why should I hire you?”
“Can you give a 5 minute presentation without any preparation?”
“Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10.”
”Two swimmers start a race. Swimmer A completes each length of the pool in 30 seconds, and swimmer B completes each length in 40 seconds. After 5 minutes, how far ahead is swimmer A than swimmer B?”
“What would your previous company lose if your role didn’t exist?”
