Today, on World Obesity Day, healthcare professionals are being urged to attend a new conference featuring free CPD-accredited education from leading experts.
The Obesity & Weight Management Alliance’s first conference will be held at the National Conference Center Birmingham on Friday 17 May and is free to attend for healthcare professionals.
Sessions will be held on a wide range of topics, including the causes and effects of obesity, weight loss and maintenance of weight loss, the impact of obesity on pregnancy outcomes, and type 2 diabetes and drug therapy.
Event manager Emily Mayhew said: “The theme for this year’s World Obesity Day is ‘Let’s talk about obesity, and…’ This will encourage people to use the power of conversation to explore how we can tackle obesity together. I hope that this will be an opportunity to discover new things.”
“At Obesity & Weight Management Alliance, we keep this idea in mind and have put together a program featuring world-class speakers who share their professional insights and knowledge with our audience. One of the easiest ways you can make a difference on Obesity Day is by registering for our free conference.
“Attending conferences allows healthcare professionals to expand their knowledge and skill sets and stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
“You will also have the opportunity to network with like-minded peers who want to help those in need with obesity and weight management challenges.”
The conference will be chaired by Professor Melanie Davies CBE, Professor of Diabetes Medicine at the University of Leicester and Honorary Consultant Diabetes Specialist at University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust. Professor Davies is co-director of the Leicester Diabetes Center and has published over 900 original papers.
