Alika Schmidt qualified for this summer’s Paris Olympics in the mixed 4×400 meter relay.
Schmidt, 25, has been dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete” and has achieved success both on and off the track.
This has given the German runner a large fan base with 4.9 million followers on Instagram and an additional 2 million followers on TikTok.
And Schmidt traveled to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics, but ultimately did not participate, so he is now awaiting his Olympic debut.
The sprinter celebrated his qualification on TikTok, declaring that “Olympic season has officially begun.”
Things are looking up for the social media personality, who recently revealed she turned down a huge six-figure sponsorship deal despite earning just £611 a month as a professional athlete.
“Two months ago, I received an offer from a well-known brand, but I wasn’t 100 percent behind it,” Schmidt said.
“I couldn’t be happier with that. This would be mid-to-high six figures for the campaign.
“Basically, I have to say that for most German track and field athletes, it is not easy to make a living from sports.
“Of course, we get revenue from competitions. Most contests don’t make money.
“Personally, I cannot live on this amount alone, because many competitions still have travel and accommodation costs that are not always covered.
“Most of us study part-time or take small jobs on the side to build a second source of income.”
However, Mr. Schmidt earns his income from a large social media platform.
