The “world’s largest trampoline” is coming to Wales as an attraction at Street Food Circus’ latest event, and can be seen at Fantastic Fête, held in the grounds of St Donat’s Castle on the Vale of Glamorgan coast over the first weekend in August.
The “world’s largest trampoline” can comfortably accommodate 100 people. Its highest point is 12.8 meters high, and its side turrets are as high as the walls of Cardiff Castle, making it taller than the Great Wall of China. When the 23.8-meter-wide, 20.7-meter-deep trampoline was built, it broke the existing record, but a new official record was set in Pakistan late last year.
Meanwhile, food and feasting will take centre stage at the event, with a street food line-up featuring cuisines from around the world, including Pasta a Mano, which was recently awarded a Wales Street Food Award. Street Food Circus x Tiny Rebel Bar will serve Welsh beers, Laura’s Cocktail Garden will offer a range of Welsh spirits, cocktails and wines, and DJs will be playing throughout the day. As well as street food stalls, Fantastic Fête will also feature the Indy Collective Market, where 18 independent traders will be selling a wide range of craft, vintage and artisan products. Circus fans will enjoy Chris Bruzini, one of the UK’s best-known aerialists, performing on a custom-made tightrope device eight metres above the audience’s heads. Throughout the day, children can enjoy free circus school sessions and crazy golf. In the evening, the castle grounds come to life with a fire show finale from Pembrokeshire Fire Spinners. The Incredible Clever Canine Circus offers a unique dog training experience.
A traditional bandstand will be set up at the heart of the venue, featuring live music from up and coming Welsh artists and local young talent. Visitors can take part in music and performances at regular Twpaz dances throughout the day. St Donat’s Castle will have its own Lido Pool overlooking the coast and a mobile sauna where visitors can swim, lounge and relax.
Street Food Circus founder and ringmaster Matt The Hat explains: “It’s the culmination of everything we do – the best street food in Wales, gravity-defying circus, nurturing local talent and supporting independent traders. Plus there’s a giant trampoline and some good old fashioned trampoline – it’s the biggest and most amazing show we’ve ever put on in a seaside castle.”
“The St Donat’s venue is in a fantastic location, nestled between the historic castle and the spectacular Glamorgan Heritage Coast. It’ll be a mix of festival and festival atmosphere, with food stalls, live music, circus performers and a spectacular evening finale as the sun goes down. If you love forest festivals, this is your chance to experience all we have to offer. There are plenty of local campsites just a stone’s throw from the venue, so you could even make a weekend out of it.”
