Wilson in Dreamland
Kyren Wilson will be aiming for his first World Snooker Championship win this Bank Holiday weekend.
Warrior became the first man to advance to the two-day final with a 17-11 victory over qualifier David Gilbert.
The No. 12 seed did most of the hard work Friday night, finishing with a 14-10 record on the night.
He then won three of the next four frames and made back-to-back breaks in frames 54 and 67 to secure the pass.
Gilbert, 42, only had himself to blame for missing some key shots in those frames Saturday afternoon.
Wilson, 32, punched the air and blew kisses to his family high up in the auditorium at a Sheffield theater.
He will start as a favorite against either Stuart Bingham or Jack Jones, who qualified last month.
The memory of the 2020 final, where he lost to Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final, will remain firmly in his mind.
But he has played well this tournament, especially knocking out John Higgins in the quarter-finals, and is a much better player than he was four years ago.
