How much is the prize?
This year’s World Senior prize pot is worth a whopping £50,000, with the winner taking home £5,000 more than Jimmy White in 2023.
White won £15,000 after defeating Alfie Baden in a recent tournament.
However, the 2024 winner will receive £20,000 and an automatic place into the Champions of Champions event later this year.
White celebrates victory
Jimmy White snatched victory at the Crucible this afternoon.
Against Andrew Norman, he came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2.
And White said, “He’s playing well. It looked like a banana peel, but it’s over.”
White 3-2 Norman
Immediately after the start, Norman looked like he was going to win, but a mistake in the third frame allowed White to fight back.
In the fifth frame, Norman’s mistake was repeated and White snatched the victory.
The whirlwind continues in the quarterfinals against Igor Figueiredo.
White 2-2 Norman
White pulled back and took the No. 4 spot.
The next step will be to decide which teams will advance to the quarterfinals.
White 1-2 Norman
White may have closed the gap, but it was not an easy comeback.
It worked really well for Whirlwind. The 62-year-old had all the reds lined up, but the moment he took his eyes off the table he realized he had missed the red.
However, Norman made the same mistake trying to put Black on, allowing White to recover from his mistake early in the frame.
White 0-2 Norman
After Haku’s strong start, fans expected the four-time champion to take the No. 2 spot.
However, underdog Norman surprised the Crucible late in the frame and doubled their lead.
