Motorist Washington Nhenderele, who was involved in a recent assault incident, has been granted bail while in court. Nderele is accused of attacking a parking lot guard at Tendi Three Investments (TTI) on January 26 after being asked to pay a parking fee of just $1. The marshal reportedly endured a barrage of bare-handed blows and punches from the driver. Following the incident, Nderele was arrested by officers from Bulawayo Central Police Station. The incident came to light during a joint effort between traffic management companies, local law enforcement and the Central Vehicle Registration Department to crack down on drivers who cheated with clamp devices.

Mr Nderele’s arrest followed an incident in which he allegedly assaulted a TTI parking security officer during a dispute over a $1 parking fee. According to reports, the security officer was struck multiple times with his open hand and fist, resulting in Mr Nderele being arrested at Bulawayo Central Police Station. He was granted bail of $200 after the incident and his trial is scheduled to begin on February 12th.
Crackdown on tampering with clamp gadgets
The incident came to light as the traffic management authority, in collaboration with the police and the Central Vehicle Registration Authority, was conducting a joint operation targeting drivers who tampered with clamping devices. Drivers found guilty of such acts face a hefty fine of $150. Additionally, he will be responsible for paying a $30 impound fee per hour if the vehicle is towed.
