Fifty years ago, Bordeaux suffered a historic humiliation when it lost to California wine in a blind tasting known as the Judgment of Paris.
Now, the region of southwestern France is regaining some of its pride with a tasting event called “The Judgment of London.”
At the much-hyped event at the London Wine Fair, a €616 bottle of Bordeaux was runner-up in the red wine category. But there was no such luck in the white wine category, where a €24 bottle from New Zealand won.
