Tyler Perry is adding to his collection of first-look deals.
Perry has signed a first-look series deal with Netflix, adding to his film deal with the streamer.
As part of the new deal, the streamer has ordered a drama series beauty in blackthe first green light under the contract.
This is in addition to Perry’s BET TV deal, which is ongoing and we understand that Perry has more than 10 series with the company. In 2017, Perry signed a large, long-term deal with Viacom, as the company was then called.
beauty in black is a 16-episode drama series written, directed, and produced by Perry. It depicts two women who lead completely different lives. Kimmy is kicked out by her mother and struggles to make ends meet, and Mallory is successful in business, but they find their lives intertwined.
Ange Bones and Tony Strickland will also produce for Tyler Perry Studios.
In October, Perry signed a multi-year first-look deal with Netflix to write, direct and produce feature films for the streamer. The deal followed an agreement with Amazon Studios to write four features for Prime Video.
Perry’s upcoming movies on Netflix include six triple eight Starring Kerry Washington Mea Culpa Starring Kelly Rowland. His previous films on Netflix include: Jazzman’s Blues, Madea’s Homecoming and thriller fall from grace.
Perry’s BET projects include: Sisteris in its seventh season, oval, It’s in season 5 merciless, which is in season 4.he also has young dylan on Nickelodeon.
