“If you want to see two blokes hiking, keep watching,” they joke in a TikTok video of their Pen-y-Fan climbing experience in Bannow Blycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). And now it’s spreading rapidly.
Two women from London climbed one of Wales’ most famous tourist attractions and claimed it was “absolutely terrifying”.
Holidaymakers have shared funny stories of climbing Pen y Fan in Bannau Blycheniog (Brecon Beacons), describing it as the “most terrifying thing” they have ever done. Their videos on his TikTok, posted by a page called London Hotspots, have so far earned him tens of thousands of views on TikTok.
The video begins with the funny line, “If you want to see two dudes hiking, keep watching.” Then one of the women said, “If you’re serious about hiking, please stop watching now because you might be offended.” She explained how her friend invited her to go hiking and she initially declined but later changed her mind.
In preparation for their climb, they stopped at Sports Direct. She said: “I had to stop Sports Direct because it was raining, so I had to buy waterproof trousers. It was literally showing up like a single raindrop on the weather app, so when it actually rained… We didn’t realize it was going to rain. We didn’t realize it was already raining.” “We weren’t ready. From this moment on, we should have gone home,” said Wales. Online reports.
The friends had planned to stay in a hotel before embarking on their upcoming “long walk.” Despite the continuous downpour, they were fine at first, but that didn’t last long. “To be honest, I don’t know why I didn’t go home at this point,” she said. “So we put on our waterproof clothes and started our walk. I was still pretty excited at this point and thought it was going to get easier. I don’t know why I thought that. I’m a walker. Because it’s not, I literally feel like I’m out of breath when I load the washing machine.
Their adventure encounters its first problem within minutes when they discover that the bridge leading to the Pen-y-Fan path is closed. Unfazed, they decided to press on anyway, safely reaching the other shore and continuing their journey. “Honestly, this is one of the worst things I’ve ever done,” she said. “It was really scary. My heart hurt so much and I couldn’t breathe. The stones were slippery and my shoes weren’t suitable. I actually went to Sports Direct and got suitable shoes, but this… I don’t think so.” That’s right. We were cold and my brain froze. Everything was cold. ”
By the time they returned, workers had arrived to repair the bridge, leaving them no choice but to cross the river on foot. Despite being soaking wet and shivering by then, they managed to evacuate to safety. “At this point we were freezing, cold and wet,” she declared.
The couple returned to their hotel, only to discover that their room was not “warm enough” and they only had one towel. They tried to dry off, but decided not to stay another night and go home. Despite the “terrible” hike, many people cheered them on as they attempted to reach the top of Pen-y-Fan. Some people said they had experienced something similar.
“I respect your determination,” one person said. “I’m serious about hiking, but I love you both,” said another. One person said: “My best friend and I started a hike, but after about 20 minutes we stopped and went to the pub for the rest of the day.” Another said: “The Beacons’ ‘Just a Drop of Rain’ was like no other. It’s the same as heavy rain in a place like that.”
