This sleep “pod” is a mattress packed with sensors
Eight Sleep Pod Cover
2,345 GBP Eight Sleep
One of the must-have tech-meets-health products in the US right now is the “sleep system.” The “pod” is essentially a mattress cover packed with sensors that heats and cools to regulate body temperature based on overnight measurements and tracking sleep patterns. It can also be used if two people share a bed, meaning if your partner is prone to sweating, It’s a great way to lie down and cool down in a comfortable position. A friend of mine told me it was a life changer, and as I have a sweaty bedmate myself, I know exactly how that feels.

Loop Quiet 2 Earplugs
£24.95; Loop Ear Plugs
If your sleep issues have more to do with neighbors, kids, or snoring partners than noise in your head, consider upgrading your flimsy foam earplugs to these. Available in a range of earplug sizes for a snug fit, they provide the perfect level of noise reduction without completely blocking out sound.

Track your sleep with an EEG sensor
Somni Sleep Smart Headband
$299 Somny Sleep
This futuristic headband might not be the sexiest thing to wear in bed, but it might just be the smartest. It works by using EEG (electroencephalogram) sensors to measure your brain activity. It gives you a 15-minute personalized “stimulation session” with rhythms and patterns that, according to your feedback, essentially tell your brain to sleep. The sensation is mild — a tingling or warmth on your forehead — but the effects are impressive: it’s said to cut the time it takes you to fall asleep in half (and studies have shown it’s four times more effective than melatonin pills).
They don’t currently ship to the UK, but some eager (desperate?) insomniacs are asking friends to send them across the ocean.

Philips sleep headphones can be paired with an app
Philips Sleep Headphones
£249.99; Philips
Falling asleep to your favorite true crime podcast may be fun, but waking up 30 minutes later to someone recounting the details of a murder isn’t ideal. These headphones prevent that by monitoring your sleep (via built-in sensors), fading out the audio as you fall asleep, and introducing white noise (if you want). When paired with sleep app Kokoon, you can track your sleep as well as access a library of sleep-inducing audio (from meditations to soundscapes), or just keep listening to gory podcasts if you prefer.
A standout feature is the ultra-thin earbuds that are covered in super-soft silicone, making them comfortable even when you’re sleeping on your side.

Dyson Air Purifier HEPA Cool Fan
£549.99; Dyson
In the UK, we may only get a couple of hot weeks a year, but a Dyson fan is your best friend. Coolness certainly helps you sleep better, but why not go a step further and improve your air quality too? Dyson’s cooling purifier (which has a near-silent night setting) filters out airborne pollutants like dust, allergens and formaldehyde that can negatively impact your quality of sleep throughout the night, including sneezing and dry throat.
