The title of this article may seem a little dramatic. But for many Sony shooting enthusiasts, this may indeed be the best gadget DJI has ever made. A camera adapter (buy here) for his popular DJI Mic 2 wireless microphone (buy here).
What makes this especially special for Sony shooters is that you can use the DJI Mic 2 completely wirelessly. This doesn’t just mean between transmitter and receiver, but between receiver and camera.
DJI Mic 2 Camera Adapter – Eliminate Wires
It’s pretty much explained in the video above by Sidney Diongzon. I mean, this is an eight-minute video of him, but there’s not really much to say. This is a camera adapter for DJI Mic 2. Utilize Sony’s multifunction interface on the top of the camera.
This isn’t the first microphone like this. For example, the Godox Virso S (buy here) also connects the receiver directly to Sony’s multifunction shoe. And of course, Sony also has its own mic line that utilizes a multi-function shoe.
Even though there are other wireless microphone systems that are unique to Sony, DJI remains popular. The DJI Mic 2 remains at the top of its game, along with microphones like the Rode Wireless ME (buy here), Wireless GO II (buy here), and Wireless Pro (buy here).
Naturally, not everyone needs this. But if Sony takes photos and already owns DJI Mic 2, then it’s easy. Provides digital audio directly to the camera. It also removes another wire from your setup. What’s not to like about that?

The DJI Mic 2 camera adapter is listed as compatible with a variety of Sony mirrorless cameras. I’m not sure if this list is complete or not, but here’s the official list as of now:

- Sony α7C, α7C II, α7CR
- Sony α7S III
- Sony α7R IV, α7R IVA, α7R V
- Sony α9 II, α9 III
- Sony α6700
- Sony FX30, FX3
There are some bodies that are notably missing from the list above, so other bodies may work as well. It is unclear why these bodies are not listed. It may not actually be working. Or maybe you just haven’t tested it to make sure it works yet.
