AMAZON Fire Stick owners are being urged to check their TVs to make sure they haven’t made any mistakes that could damage their gadgets.
A popular “cable clearing hack” that went viral on TikTok can prevent your Fire Stick from getting enough power to start properly.
In this “hack,” people connected Amazon gadgets to the back of their TVs using hidden USBs instead of wall outlets.
This meant that customers could avoid extra wiring leading to mains power.
It also freed up outlet space for those living in older properties with fewer wall outlets.
The Fire Stick can be powered by the TV alone, but since the TV is already connected to the mains power, it may not have enough power to turn it on.

Often, your TV’s USB port can’t carry that much amperage.
If any of these happen during an “update”, the code will break and your Fire Stick will be “bricked” (temporarily or permanently) or put into a bootloop.

This means that your Fire Stick will have to restart every time you turn it on, which can take a very long time.

permanent damage
Attempting to update your Fire Stick when it is low on power or has no power can cause permanent damage, a Reddit user warned.
“If any of these occur during an update, the code will become corrupted and the Fire Stick will be “bricked” (temporarily or permanently) or put into a bootloop.
“This can also happen with Fire Sticks that are powered by an adapter plug, but only if the internet connection is temporarily lost during the update.
“However, the power shortage/power shortage issue has been resolved.”
