From Peloton to Fitbits, technology is increasingly permeating the fitness industry.
Today, fitness enthusiasts can rely on AI to help them achieve their goals through coaching apps like Fitness AI and generative AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
So far, the health benefits provided by AI have been mixed. One person asked ChatGPT to create a running routine and claimed to have lost 26 pounds after following it. Another user said they had a chatbot create a weight loss meal plan for them, but it was far from perfect.
A growing number of gyms are now leveraging AI, including Lumin Fitness, which opened its first location in Texas last year.
But what exactly is a gym powered by algorithms with little human oversight?

AI can simultaneously analyze the collected data and give the exerciser real-time feedback on form, technique, and range of motion.
Participants can choose between a 40-minute solo class or an AI-powered group class.
