I love the flashy creativity of avant-garde beauty on the catwalks, but I’m also well aware that most of it doesn’t translate easily into everyday life.
That said, every season there are some gems among the theatrical pieces that provide the perfect inspiration to try out new wearable ways to refresh your daily life over the coming months.
After scouring 24 spring/summer shows, here are the top three trends we’re excited to try out this season. There’s something for everyone.
golden hour makeup
Warm, prime-time tones were seen in shows like Tibi and Carolina Herrera. From smudged under-’90s eyeshadow to calligraphy-like liner, shades of golden orange, baked terra cotta, and peach coral caught our eye.
At Ulla Johnson, the two-tone lip look was inspired by the sunset. Lead makeup artist Romy Soleimani recommends filling your lower and upper lips with lip liner before finishing with your lipstick of choice to make your lips last longer (and prevent color from smearing) .
something blue
This year I’m determined to be more adventurous with my eye makeup and try out some blue.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become decidedly less experimental when it comes to what colors I put on my eyelids, and I’ve often opted for bronzer shades to complement my green eyes. Fortunately, this trend is not one-size-fits-all.

Periwinkle, Cobalt and Teal have all appeared in shows such as Etro and Del Core. To easily follow the trend, apply your favorite shade with a thin brush, line your lower lash line, and brush away the rest for an instant pop of color.

Like most no-makeup makeup, this one requires a little effort to moisturize and make your lips look better, but the extra work is well worth it.
Flawless nude makeup artist Vilde Feste recommends, just like with any skin care, the first step is to prime your lips and check for any flaking.

“For a quick fix, a lip scrub is a must, and you can use plenty of balms to work their magic while you apply the rest of your makeup,” she tells us. . Don’t be afraid to mix colors and find attractive shades.
“Fair-skinned people tend to have cooler lip colors, so pinks are good for them. Darker-skinned people tend to look best in warmer brown/gold tones,” she says. advises. For the most natural result, look for a creamier, clearer texture.
