The smallest fish finger sandwich measures just 16mm x 15mm and just 8mm high, and is made with great attention to detail. This includes a thin layer of butter spread between the miniature breads. The little fish fingers were served with a drizzle of ketchup and a small lettuce leaf.
The production process was painstaking, requiring over 100 hours to create and assemble the clay components. The finished product weighs about the same as a single pea.
Miniature artist Nadia Michaud was commissioned to create this dish for the launch of Birdseye’s new Mini Fish Fingers, which are half the size of the usual options.
Nadia said: ‘This was an incredibly difficult challenge, as we had to make sure the size of the sandwich was no larger than four 5p coins stacked together, and that each of the little fish fingers was approximately 5mm x 11mm. When I think about it, I’m really satisfied with this result. I’m really glad that the captain gave me his stamp of approval.”
The sandwich elements were determined in a survey of 2,000 adults commissioned by the brand, which found that “real” butter, two slices of white bread, ketchup and lettuce make up the perfect fish finger sandwich. There was found.
Each component is painstakingly crafted from two types of specialized clay and molded by hand. The components are meticulously painted to accurately replicate the Playmobil Captain figure and are available to customers with the purchase of two special edition packs of the product.
Dace Khudher of Birds Eye said, “We’ve traveled the world to create the tallest fish finger sandwiches, uncover recipes to suit every taste, and now, with Nadia’s help, we’ve created the smallest fish finger sandwiches.” I was able to make it,” he said. Until now”.
“Making something this small requires incredible precision, and the attention to detail and care that went into making this is something we can really relate to.”
