A murder investigation has been launched after a 66-year-old man was stabbed in a north London apartment.
The Metropolitan Police were called to a man with serious injuries in the common area of a flat in Lockhart Close, Enfield, at 7.28pm on Friday.
An ambulance also rushed to the scene, but the man died at the scene.
Detectives believe they know the man’s identity and will notify next of kin as they continue their investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Nelson, from the Special Crime Branch, said: “The victim had been stabbed inside a flat in Lockhart Close and was found in a common area of the flat with serious injuries.”
“We are aware that local people are extremely concerned about this tragic incident and can assure you that our dedicated detectives are investigating. I will do everything I can.”
The deceased have not been formally identified and a post-mortem examination has not yet been scheduled.
DCI Nelson said: “I would like to thank local residents who assisted our officers last night and this morning as the investigation began.” They said police continue to operate in the area, including forensic officers and other experts, to assist in the painstaking murder investigation. ”
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Lockhart Close, Derby Road, Lincoln Road and surrounding areas on Friday night.
