“Super Express” director David Leitch is in talks to direct Universal’s new “Jurassic World.” The currently untitled project is scheduled for release on July 2, 2025.
David Koepp, the original screenwriter for Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, will write the script for the film, and Steven Spielberg will executive produce through Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce, with David Leitch and Kelly McCormick also producing through 87North.
Cope’s other screenplays in his more than 30-year screenwriting career include Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, Death Becomes Her, Panic Room, and War of the Worlds. He is represented by CAA and attorney David Fox of Myman, Greenspan, Feynman, Fox, Rosenberg & Wright.
The film marks the beginning of a new story in the 30-year Juggernaut series. It’s not yet clear whether any of the previous stars, including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, will return.
Universal executive director of production and development Sarah Scott and creative executive of production and development Jacqueline Garrel will oversee the project for the studio.
Since the release of Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in June 1993, the six-film series has grossed more than $6 billion worldwide. The latest installment in the series, 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, has surpassed $1 billion worldwide.
David Leitch’s directorial credits include John Wick, Atomic Blonde, the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2, and this year’s Emily Blunt and Ryan.・Other works include the action comedy “The Fall Guy,” starring Gosling. He is repped by CAA, Johnson, Shapiro, Slewett & Cole, and 42 West.
Deadline first reported the story.
