If you were given the task of creating an adorable, not-so-intense, super-sweet competition where your dog could be the ace, what would the name of that showdown be?
“The person who snuggles the best in a thunderstorm”? “The best peanut butter ball eater (creamy instead of crunchy)”? “The very cute girl sleeping on the couch right now”?
There are plenty of contests that our beloved dogs outright win, but real-world showdowns don’t always capture the cuter than competitive spirit we seek.
But there’s a quirky event that embraces the funny, cute, and enchanting side of our Fidos, and each winter they lead a pack of bulldogs into our hearts in their quirky way. .
It’s Long Beach’s annual Bulldog Beauty Contest and National Mutt Show, where a lark carrying a lassie trots across Long Beach in Valentine’s neck of the woods.
That means the 2024 festival is fast approaching, and on Sunday, February 18th, Bulldog and all dogs will be gathering at the Granada Boat Launch, just off Rosie’s Dog Beach.
Rosie is well known to bulldog enthusiasts around Southern California. The much-loved dog once lived with Justin Ladd, an organizer of AutoDog-related events such as beauty pageants and the popular Halloween dog parade.
So while the bulldog is undoubtedly the most famous of the February galas, other contests include Best Sibling, Best Senior Dog, and Best Adopted/Protection Dog.
It’s $10 to enter your pup in advance, $20 once it arrives at the Granada boat launch on February 18th.
Do some bulldogs wear costumes such as tutus and bow ties? There is no point in denying that this is the case. Should I dress my dog for this occasion? It’s up to you, but be sure to consult with your dog and understand where she stands on a fashionable hat or festive vest. please.
