A special day of dancing, food and celebration was held in Wirral to mark Chinese New Year.
To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, a special carnival was organized by the Wirral Chinese Association (WCA), which included dragon dancing, calligraphy workshops and traditional Chinese food.
The celebration, held to mark Lunar New Year, was open to the entire Wirral community, which the Society is passionate about.

WCA Treasurer Stephen Tam said:
“We don’t want it to be limited to just the Chinese community. Whether people are ethnic minorities or local British, we want them to participate in Chinese culture. It is.”
Founded in 1988, WCA celebrated 35 years of philanthropy and volunteerism to Asian minority communities.
Mr. Tam, who is from Hong Kong, emphasized the importance of young people representing Chinese values, especially those who choose to become WCA volunteers.
He continued: It’s very difficult to quantify unless you actually try it. It also helps them integrate into the community, get a job and contribute to the community.
“Our philanthropy is also growing organically and incrementally. Seeing people smiling and happy is the best thing in the world.”
